Sous Chef - The Como Hotel

The Venue

The elegant Como Hotel stands in the quiet backwaters of the Georges River. With remarkable views and shady verandas, it's heritage is well-renowned. Catering to guests of all ages the Como features the main bar which is a prime spot for a craft beer and the footy, while The Como Grill is perfect for a casual bite to eat with views out over Scylla Bay.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated and passionate Sous Chef to join the historic Como!

On a day to day you will

Manage all activities in the kitchen, including food preparation and production, as well as management and training of kitchen staff

Ensure that food products, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality, and are prepared to serve in a timely manner

Monitoring of food stock and ordering food

Assist with the preparation and planning of meal designs and menus

Ensure that kitchen activities operate in a timely manner.

Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks including line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating.

What you'll bring

Proven experience in Bistro and Events

Capacity to work under pressure in a high volume environment

Enjoy working to a high standard with strong attention to detail

High level communication and leadership skills

Ability to run the kitchen/ staff in the absence of the Head Chef
